The Well London Project is coming to Tower Hamlets  and will be delivering health promotion services and activities on the Aberfeldy Estate.

I went to the Culloden Primary School presentation about Parental control and how we as parent can protect our children from the Internet.

The 3 top tips I took away from the session were;

  1. Facebook – don’t let any children under 13 yrs old go on Facebook. This is the advise because you cannot control who they talk to or befriend i.e. its the same as don’t talk to strangers but online.
  2. Viruses on you computer – make sure you have the latest virus on your computer i.e. Norton /AVG
  3. Keeping a check on your child’s computer usage – you can track the website your child visits by using the Brower History
  4. Passwords – help your child not to share their password with anyone

For my homework I looked online using Google to search for a local walk, that would be easy for a family (esp. with children) – I found a walk from from Mile End to Bromley By Bow.

I liked this walk because it was relaxing, not too long & it is one you can take your time with.

Follow this link http://www.london-footprints.co.uk/wkbowroute.htm

A 5 mile walk from Mile End tube station (Central, District and Hammersmith & City lines) to Bromley-by-Bow tube station (District and Hammersmith & City lines). The route can be shortened by finishing at Devons Road DLR station.

Lots of the women in the group  have started to get their own  email account in the sessions. 3 members of the group   had a choice between  hotmail,  yahoo or gmail.  What we have found out is that gmail is the easiest to set up particually if you are new to using a computer.

One of the main tips that we would like to pass on to you when signing up for a new email account is to write down your username and password and secret answer and give a copy of  this important  information to somone you trust for safe keeping  because next time you log in you may not remember exactly how you typed in the username and password and may even forget the answer to your secret question and then you wil have to start over again……although how does the saying go …..if at first you don’t suceede  then try and try again…….sorry hotmail yahoo and gmail.
